The 2 pya coin was issued by Burma (now Myanmar) in 1949. It had a value equal to 1⁄40 of a rupee.
The coin's shape was identical to that of the larger-denominated 2 pe coin, having four sides and rounded corners. It was composed of cupronickel, weighed 3 grams, and measured 20 millimeters in diameter and 1.5 millimeters thick. A sole left-facing Chinze lion was depicted on the obverse, while the coin's value (inscribed as ၂ါး နစ်ပြား) was displayed on the reverse, flanked by sprays on both sides. Underneath the sprays and value was the year (written as ၁၉၄၉). A total of 7,000,100 examples were produced, 100 of which were struck in proof quality.
