Coal is a black sedimentary rock composed mainly of carbon. During the Weimar Republic's hyperinflation from 1921 to 1923, coal and compressed coal dust were used in the form of Notgeld. Most of these, however, are no longer in existence, as they were burned for fuel subsequently.
