The 1 tetri coin (1 thetri) is a circulation piece that was issued by Georgia in 1993. It is distributed by the National Bank of Georgia, the Georgian central bank. Although the coin has not been struck for several years, it continues to be used for its legal tender face value of 0.01 lari in its country of origin, except in the area of Abkhazia, which is widely recognized as part of Georgia but has declared itself independent.
The piece is composed of stainless steel and has a mass of 1.38 grams, a diameter of 15 millimeters, and a thickness of 1.25 millimeters. It has coin alignment and a plain edge, and like most coins, is round in shape. The coin's designs are the work of Georgian artists Elguja Amashukeli (1928–2002) and Bachana and Nodar Malazonia. Displayed in the center of the obverse is an illustration of the Borjgali, a Georgian symbol of the sun, above the Christian Tree of Life. The former represents eternal movement and life, while the latter symbolizes the continuity between the past, present, and future. Engraved in the middle of the coin is the date "1993", the first two numerals (19) separated from the last two (93) by the Borjgali. All of the aforementioned elements are enclosed within a circular boundary. Printed in a clockwise direction along the upper periphery of the piece, outside of the boundary, is the Mkhedruli Georgian state title "საქართველოს რესპუბლიკა" (Romanized: Sakartvelos Respublika), which commences at the left of the obverse and concludes at the right. The English equivalent, "REPUBLIC OF GEORGIA", is written counterclockwise along the bottom rim. It starts at the left periphery and ends at the opposite side of the obverse. The Georgian and English texts are separated from each other at both sides of the obverse by small design elements consisting of three small grouped circles. Inscribed at the top center of the reverse is the Georgian value "1 თეთრი" (erti tetri), with the numeral and word printed on separate lines and the former engraved in a significantly larger font than the latter. Below are two clusters of grapes hanging from vines. The rims of the obverse and reverse are raised, and on the reverse the rim is decorated with an ornamental border.
The total mintage of the 1 tetri coin is currently unknown. However, examples are relatively common and can be obtained by most coin collectors at low prices.
