The 5 pfennig coin was a coin circulated by the German Empire from 1873 to 1914 equal to 5 pfennige, or 0.05 mark.
The coin was issued being composed of cupronickel. It weighed about 2.49 g, reached about 18 mm in diameter, and 1.3 mm in thickness. The obverse of the coin featured no complex design, like most pfennig coins of this time, but the reverse displayed the Reichsadler, the coat of arms of Germany. Production of these coins ceased in 1914, when the 5 pfennig coin of Papiermark was issued.[1][2]
