The 1 rupiah coin is a circulation piece of the Republic of Indonesia. It was issued in a single type by Bank Indonesia on January 1, 1971 (although dated 1970), and struck by Perum Peruri in Jakarta.

The coin is currently legal tender in its country of origin, carrying a nominal value of 1.00 rupiah. In spite of this, it no longer circulates frequently because of its low purchasing power.

The piece is composed of aluminum and measures 1.42 grams in mass, 22 millimeters in diameter, and 1.8 millimeters in thickness. It has medallic alignment and a plain edge, and like most coins, is round in shape. Both of its rims are raised and undecorated.

A left-facing illustration of a white-browed fantail (Rhipidura aureola), a species of passerine bird native to Indonesia and other parts of Southeast Asia, is displayed at the bottom of the obverse. Printed horizontally above is the face value "Rp1", abbreviated for Rupiah 1 or 1 Rupiah, the numeral rendered in larger font than the preceding letters.

The face value "1 RUPIAH" is engraved on two lines in the middle of the reverse, the numeral displayed in a larger, bolder font than the following word. Written clockwise along the rim above is the legend "BANK INDONESIA", and engraved in the opposite direction at the periphery below is the Gregorian date of minting, "1970". The name of the bank and the year are separated from one another by two five-pointed stars, one at each side of the reverse.

Around 136,010,000 examples of the coin, all business strikes, were manufactured during a single year of production. A small number of brass patterns are also known to exist.
