The 50 deni coin was issued by the Republic of Macedonia in 1993. With a value equal to 0.50 Macedonian denari, it is the lowest denominated piece of currency ever issued by Macedonia during its time as a sovereign state.
The 50 deni coin is composed of brass. It weighs approximately 4.05 grams and measures 21.5 millimeters in diameter. It uses medallic orientation. A Black-headed Gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus) flying near a coast and over a body of water is displayed in the center of the obverse. Above it is the Macedonian state title "РЕПУБΛИКА МАКЕДОНИЈА" using Cyrillic characters, and below is the year of minting, flanked by a dot or bullet (•) on both sides. The value "50 ДЕНИ" is printed on the reverse, with 16 sun rays engraved above. A dotted border encompasses the contents of both sides of the coin.
In total, approximately 11,051,000 examples of the 50 deni coin were emitted by the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia in 1993. The coin is no longer produced, but is still circulated.
