The 20 lei coin was issued by the Republic of Moldova on June 15, 2009. This non-circulated commemorative coin carries the status of legal tender, holding a face value equal to 20 lei.

The coin is composed of .925 fine silver, weighs approximately 8 grams, and measures 22 millimeters in diameter. The coat of arms of Moldova is featured in the center of the obverse. Below the arms is the coin's value. Above is the year of minting, which separates the words of the state title of Moldova (REPUBLICA MOLDOVA). A portrait of the Assumption of Our Lady Church in Căuşeni, a historical monument dedicated to Mary, the mother of Jesus according to the Christian Bible and the Muslim Qur'an, is featured in the center of the reverse. Encircling the portrait is the Romanian text "BISERICA „ADORMIREA MAICII DOMNULUI” DIN CĂUŞENI", which translates into English as "'Dormition of the Theotokos' Church in Căuşeni". Only 1000 examples of this proof coin were commissioned to be struck at the Czech Mint in Jablonec nad Nisou, Czech Republic.
