The Moldovan cupon was a currency of Moldova issued from June 10, 1992 to November 29, 1993.
The first banknotes were printed on June 10, 1992 by the National Bank of Moldova. These notes were pegged to the Russian ruble with a ratio of 1:1. On November 29, 1993, the National Bank of Romania replaced the Moldovan cupon with the Moldovan leu, which still remains in use today, at a rate of 1 leu equaling 1000 cupons. The currency was issued in banknote denominations of 50, 200, 1000, and 5000 cupons. No coins of the currency were produced.
