The 2 rappen coin was issued by Switzerland from 1850 to 1946 and then again from 1948 to 1974. The coin was worth 0.02 francs, or 2 rappen.

All of the coins have had a diameter of 20 mm and a mass of 2.5 g. The first coin, engraved by Jacques-Jean Barre and A. Hutter, was composed of a bronze alloy of 95% copper, 4% tin, and 1% zinc. It featured the coat of arms of Switzerland on its obverse. On the reverse was the value surrounded by laurel and oak branches. The following coin, made from 1942 to 1946, was engraved by Jacques-Jean Barre and Hutter again, with the same design, but a different metal: pure zinc. Two years later, in 1948, the 2 rappen coin began circulation again, being composed of the same bronze alloy as the first coin, but was engraved by Josef Tannheimer, who engraved the Swiss cross on its obverse, and the value of the coin by an oat sprig. Production of 2 rappen coins ceased in 1974.
