Lady Justice, value
|v · d · e|
The 2 euro coin is a fantasy coin of Transnistria that was minted in 2005. As a fantasy issue, it holds no legal monetary value, and thus only has value to collectors. The coin is not currently listed in the Krause catalogs.
The coin is bimetallic, consisting of a cupronickel center inside a nickel-brass outer ring. A bat (Chiroptera) in flight is shown in the center on the obverse. Above it in the nickel-brass ring is the year of minting, while the title "TRANSNISTRIA" is shown arched at the bottom of the coin in the ring. Featured in the cupronickel portion of the reverse is a depiction of Lady Justice wearing a blindfold and carrying a sword in her left hand and a pair of balance scales in her right. The value "2E" is inscribed to the left of the image, with the numeral being much larger than the letter. Four lines are shown at the her feet, each beginning and ending near a five-pointed star in the nickel-brass ring at either side of the coin. The words "probe", "essai", and "trial", the respective German, French, and English terms for referring to a pattern coin, are shown arched in the ring at the upper left of the coin, separated from each other by a small hyphen (-).
Only 1000 examples of the coin were produced.
