Hello. I am Dser, an avid contributor to Wikia since late 2008. My interest in currency eventually led me to establish this wiki in March 2011. If you would like to contact me, you are welcome to post a message on my talk page, meet me on chat when I'm on, or send me an email.

I currently operate a flagged bot that runs using AutoWikiBrowser and Pywikibot. If you would like for my bot to perform a task, please ask.

Personal lifeEdit

I am a software developer residing in South Dakota, one of the 50 U.S. states. Aside from currency, I am also interested in exonumia, automobiles, firearms, and computer programming. I know various programming languages, and should be able to help write custom JavaScript and Lua scripts for Wikia and C# and Python scripts for bots when I am not busy. I also have quite a bit of experience with HTML, CSS, and MediaWiki parser functions, and can also code basic SVG images from scratch.

I was Community Central's Featured Wikian for the month of August 2012. Check out my interview here. I am also a current member of the Community Council and a former member of the Wikia Stars program.

For more information, see User:Dser/collection.

My interest in currency began when I acquired my first foreign coin, a Canadian nickel, at a very young age. However, in spite of this, I did not begin collecting until 2006, when the State Quarter for South Dakota, my home state, was released. From that point I was determined to obtain all of the 50 State Quarters, and in 2008, I finally succeeded, with Hawaii being the last quarter I needed for my collection. Because I was initially focused solely on finishing the State Quarter series, my interests in coins eventually faded. However, my passion for collecting was eventually revived when I went looking for a coin for a school assignment (even though I didn't have to) and walked into the shop of a local currency dealer. There I purchased a handful of European and Asian coins, which would eventually help bring my coin collecting spirit back to life.

A majority of my collection currently consists of base metal circulation coins from around the world, but I own a few silver and NCLT pieces as well. I collect paper currency and exonumia (coin-like objects) as well, but not to the extent that I do coins.

Where to find meEdit

Usually when I'm contributing to this wiki, I can be found on chat. If you don't see me around, you can probably find me on the Classic Car Wiki, Community Central chat, or on Finance Answers. I am typically online between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM (U.S. Central Time) during the work week, and before 10:00 PM or 11:00 PM on weekends.
